Matthew 5:27-32; In our culture we go as close to "the line" as we can. But, so we don't hurt ourselves, others and God we should step way back from "the line". Matthew 5:11-16; We should be different for the world, if we are not, then something is wrong. As light we reveal the truth and some may find our message offensive, yet we need to ensure that we are not being offensive (loveless). As salt we are called to hold back the rottenness of society, purifying and preserving, and enabling others to see God in our lives.

Hebrews 11:1-2, 32-40; A life of discovering who God is, submitting to him, pressing into him is a life of fulfilment. Christianity is about relationship not religion. Don't hold back because 1. The church was built on the principle of going all out for God, 2. The world needs to see genuine Christians, not religious people, 3. Life is too short to hold back.

Matthew 5:10-12; Not all persecution is for righteousness sake. We can bring suffering on ourselves because we are insensitive to others. We can also 'fly under the radar', avoiding persecution because we do not make a stand for Jesus. While suffering may seem a burden, it can refine us, brings us closer to God, glorify him, and will be rewarded.
