Alexander Wang Fall 2009 Collection: New York, USA (February 14, 2009) Presented by Global Fashion News With his Fall 2009 collection fashion’s newest star, Alexander Wang, proved that he is here to stay. Wang showed a tailored, luxurious side to his feral street-chic style in a predominantly black lineup, upping the ante with studs, leather, lace, and fur. Wang’s collection, a mixture of 80s power dressing and rebellious rocker, spoke directly to his 20-something following. Seen on the runway were numerous body conscious outfits that channeled Catwoman; models in leggings and bike shorts paired with fitted blazers or heavy leather motorcycle jackets exuded a menacing attitude as they stormed down the catwalk. A black leather crocodile embossed form-fitting jacket coupled with black matte-croc leggings highlighted Wang’s aggressive, yet seductive style. Wang also offered up a variety of dresses; a completely slashed white jersey sleeveless dress gave off a defiant party-girl vibe. He wowed with form-fitting minis featuring asymmetrical cut-out shoulders and bandage minidresses in black lace for those looking for a more sophisticated take on tough sexy chic. Rodarte Spring 2009 Collection NEW YORK, USA (September 9, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News in High Definition. With a coveted CFDA Swarovski award for emerging talent in Womenswear now under their belt and major hollywood actresses sporting their gowns at this year’s Academy Awards, the designing sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy are proving that their arty intellectual clothes are here to stay. Inspired by Robert Smithson's earthwork sculpture “Spiral Jetty,” Blade Runner, and the colors of the cosmos, The Rodarte Spring 2009 collection featured a tough textural tension of mesh, knits, chiffons, tulle and leather deconstructed and layered together to create a futuristic world of beautiful androids. The Mulleavy sister’s usual dreamy romanticism and obsessive layering is mixed with punk details using laser cut leather skeletal bodices layered over tulle dresses and slung with heavy black chains. Some of the most wearable pieces in the collection include black or nude leather bomber jackets with matching cigarette pants. Knife pleated wrap skirts are shown with gauzy, web like sweaters and bound tops over leather diamond cut-out leggings. Beautiful ballerina like dresses and deftly draped grecian style gowns of tulle and chiffon are meticulously hand dyed in a rainbow of violet, orange, white and blue. G Star Spring 2009 Collection; New York, USA ( September 11. 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News in High Definition. Hard edged denim has always been the main event at G-Star, however this season they used their show to highlight the United Nations New Millennium campaign to stop poverty. Alan Cummings and Heather Graham opened the show by outlining the campaigns eight millennium development goals. G-Star’s cutting edge denim was apparent in spades for Spring 2009 in jumpsuits and fitted shorts, along with a bevy of new offerings. Designer Pierre Morisset incorporated lightweight wool in nicely cut blazers and vests and silk jersey dresses printed in vividly colored pixelated abstract prints. Hemlines were ultra short in micro mini skirts, shorts, rompers and dresses. For the finale, models in wonderfully belted trench coats, fingerless gloves and deeply cut denim vests stood on hydraulically raised platforms, while an army of other models paraded below them, showcasing the entire breadth of G-Star’s collection. Zac Posen S09 Runway Show
Zac Posen S09 Collection, New York; USA (September 11, 2008) ...
Zac Posen S09 Collection, New York; USA (September 11, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News in high definition. Zac Posen’s Spring 2009 show was a fusion of many trends, with the dominant look being that of a more sophisticated woman for his devoted Hollywood clientele. In a departure from his flouncy, ruffled party dresses, Posen opened the show with several ornate 60s style cocktail dresses that featured sculpted padding at the hips. There was chrystal beading, perspex and tribal beading on super short or slightly longer sheaths that might otherwise have been too saccharin-sweet in shades of peach, rose, and pistachio. Super curvy popcorn knit minis and a pink suede motorcycle jacket over a pastel chiffon slip dress kept the look youthful and edgy. Spring 2009 also marks Zac Posen’s foray into swimwear, where he focused on retro shapes such as sweetheart bandeaus and shirred bodices. Following his pastel color story, Posen then wowed us with red carpet-worthy gowns in a leopard print and black over nude chiffon overlay with ruching, which gave off a decidedly gothic vibe. The stand-out piece among these was a black and white lattice pattern gown featuring a fishtail hem and a dramatic collar of gathered chiffon. Marc Jacobs S09 Runway Show
Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 Collection; New York, USA (September 8, ...
Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 Collection; New York, USA (September 8, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News. The Spring 2009 Marc Jacobs collection was an eclectic romp of influences from Mary Poppins to Yves St. Laurent’s Ballet Russes collection and the 1920s and 30s thrown in. Jacob’s show featured an elaborate compilation of everything you wouldn’t normally mix together, but, it is Marc Jacobs. Only he can break all the rules and get away with it to show us something powerful that is distinctly his own. His fanciful and irreverent combination of plaid, tweed, leather, metallics, and electrifying colors clashed and co-existed in the most spectacular way to produce riotously colored and lavishly embellished clothes. A capped sleeve shoulder jacket in tweed over a demure plaid blouse, coupled with a metallic brocade skirt was swathed at the waist with a lurex striped obi belt and a playful underskirt trimmed in gold. Jacob Gibson girls dazzled in plaid blouses paired with modern bustle skirts wrapped at the waist with cummerbund belts and topped off with straw boaters. Using a color palette of of electric blue, mustard, gold, bronze, rust and lurex shot fabrics, Jacobs managed to keep the collection fresh and whimsical. His clever styling of relatively modest clothes is the ultimate in contemporary modern chic. Marc Jacobs’ collection proved to be a melting pot of styles and references, which translate loosely into a uniquely American look that resonated perfectly to George Gershwin’s soundtrack of “Rhapsody in Blue.” Gianna Madrini, Style Editor - Global Fashion News http://www.globalfashionnews.com

Giambattista Valli S09 Runway Show
Giambattista Valli S09 Collection, Paris France ( October 2, 2008) ...
Giambattista Valli S09 Collection, Paris France ( October 2, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News in high definition. Fantastically Romantic best descrobes Giambattista Valli's Spring 2009 Collection. His dramatic and ultra glamorous collection came in waist cinching fitted dresses for day with teacup shaped skirts boosted by crinoline, bateau necklines and three quarter sleeves rendered in luxe silk satin, pleated chiffon and white or black lace overlay for evening. His collection exuded 50s chic, however Giambattista did mot discard his padded and cocoon shapes that are part of his signature look. He simply updated his aerodynamic sheath dresses adding a slight curve at the shoulder with soft padded collars, self matching capes and peplum jackets. Jackets were tied at the waist with shapely bows, while cocoon shaped coats for evening featured thousands of tiny silk chiffon rosettes. A grand finale parade of fairytale wedding gowns in pale nude shades of lilac, cream or beige with corseted bodices and enormous skirts with long flowing trains that swept the runway floated slowly past the audience. The sheer extravagance of Giambattista Valli's cloud-like tulle gowns made up of a thousand meters of tiny silk chiffon rosettes or cascading fingertip pleated ruffles, brought the audience to its feet. An air of mystery only added to the rumor that the designer will soon to be named to design Valentino. Gianna Madrini, Style Editor - Global Fashion News http://www.globalfashionnews.com

Rodarte Fall 2008 Collection; New York, USA. (February 5, 2007) ...
Rodarte Fall 2008 Collection; New York, USA. (February 5, 2007) Presented by Global Fashion News in High definition. The Mulleavy sister's otherworldly creations continue to mesmerize and delight us. For fall their obsession with Asia continues, with the designers seeking inspiration from an unlikely source, Japanese horror films. The result was a spectacular combination of translucent layering and the most beautiful punk ballerina skirt dresses and elegant degrade gowns you’ve ever seen. There were striking gauzy "slasher" dresses in black, white and blood red representing the gothic romance of Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli films and pale nude dresses of sheer nothingness embroidered with braided yarn. Other pieces in the collection included lighter than air, full-skirt gossamer cocktail pieces, fitted coats, sexed-up zip pocket pants paired with gauzy multicolored sweaters, each made of twenty different types of yarn. All worn with super high, 6 inch Christian Louboutin Mary Janes with spiked studs and straps that wrapped around the ankle and left the models teetering, adding to the ballerina effect. Their almost neurotic obssession with layering and exquisite craftsmanship is their calling card and it’s hard not to fall for a fairytale spun by Kate and Laura Mulleavy. - Gianna Madrini, Style Editor, Global Fashion News. http://www.globalfashionnews.com/

Alexander McQueen F08 Runway Show
Alexander McQueen Fall 2008 Runway; Paris, France. ( February 29, ...
Alexander McQueen Fall 2008 Runway; Paris, France. ( February 29, 2008) For Fall Alexander Mcqueen handed his spellbound audience a beautiful fashion fairy tale of a “Girl in Tree” who meets a prince and transforms into a queen. Inspired by British Colonialism, McQueen created the loveliest British and Indian inspired couture dresses imaginable stirring them into an incredible fashion fantasy. References to Queen Victoria, the Duke of Wellington and the Indian empire were whipped into ballerina dance dresses. Each dress was more exquisite than the last as in a crinolined strapless white chiffon dress with delicate black lace overlay embroidered with a pair of delicate peacocks whose beaks met at the neckline with their tail feathers fanning out over ivory tulle. His colonial velvets and ermine coats were regal beyond belief interspersed with impeccably tailored and rigorously cut military tailcoats and jackets worn with high neck blouses or over dresses. A strapless empire dress in white chiffon fit for a princess was wrapped and knotted around the body with jewels dripping from the model’s forehead. Alexander McQueen's show was breathtaking, not only in it's beauty, but it's excellence. It undoubtedly surpassed anything I’ve ever seen. The music alone was heaven, blending Mozart, Hadyn and Nirvana as the backdrop. McQueen’s brilliance as a designer is unmatched and his star has never shone more brightly than in his utterly romantic and stunning Fall 2008 collection. - Gianna Madrini, Style Editor, Global Fashion News.
