Jason Wu Spring 2010 Runway show
Jason Wu Spring 2010 Collection New York, NY ( Sept ...
Jason Wu Spring 2010 Collection New York, NY ( Sept 11, 2009) Presented in High Definition. In a elegant salon at the famed St. Regis Hotel in uptown New York, Jason Wu presented an eccentric and playful collection that was young and exuberant and no doubt destined for the International party circuit. Clothes that were polished, savvy and perfectly suited for any social occasion. His genius was in taking casual, everyday pieces of American sportswear and reinterpreting them into super-luxe modern day wear and extravagant curvy cocktail frocks that make dressing fun again. For evening, Jason Wu succumbed to the allure of feathers, offering a pale blush pink strapless number trimmed with an electric-lime-green belt. Wu let it rip when it came to color with an intensely chic bustier party dress in deep oxblood red feathers cinched at the waist with a candy-apple red belt. “I wanted to work that extreme sculptural element into a sort of couture-like technique,” Wu said. “I literally sculpted the dresses on the girls I cast.” Bold dark lips with barely-there eye make-up, tall lacquered updos and sky high electric hued platform heels heightened the drama of his incredibly chic and sophisticated collection. Christian Dior Spring 2010 Runway Show
Christian Dior Spring 2010 Collection Paris, France ( October 5, ...
Christian Dior Spring 2010 Collection Paris, France ( October 5, 2009) The theme was 1940s ‘film noir’ with models made-up to look like like Lauren Bacall, sporting wavy Veronica Lake hair and striking red lips. The kind of strong-shouldered woman, who can hold her own while looking incredibly chic. Disrobing was the big story at Dior, as Galliano replaced traditional suits with unconventional pairings, including French lace-trimmed cami-knickers and satin teddies signaling the return of sex or as designer John Galliano termed it, the new "semi-undressed allure". For day, pewter lamé and buff leather trench-style curvy jackets were belted over satin shorts, flirty slips and tight jeans. Off-the-shoulder jackets featuring a bow on each collarbone, and cropped trench styles including a short cotton version with a horseshoe neckline worn with pewter leather jeans kept the look modern and contemporary. Corsetry was key for evening – a theme Galliano introduced in his autumn/winter, haute couture show for Christian Dior. By night, the glamour was oh so seductive as Galliano put his heroine into a pale pink corset and a long draped mint green skirt that radiated with sequins. The overt transparencies such as a purple satin bra-and-knicker set, seen through sheer black chiffon overlay were an illusion created by paneled layers, so that the undergarments can be slipped on all at once. The black banded tops of stockings seen through sheer panels in a copper lamé dress, and bra and panties glimpsed under a semitransparent tiered blue gown, were actually shadows stitched into underslips. Backstage, Galliano revealed the undercover secret: all the underwear was actually built-in, making getting dressed a one-step operation. The collection captured the romantic essence of his Dior couture and offered accessible interpretations of the fabulous lingerie-based couture collection. A clever and alluring combination. Isaac Mizrahi Spring 2010 Runway Show
Isaac Mizrahi Spring 2010 Collection New York, NY ( Sept ...
Isaac Mizrahi Spring 2010 Collection New York, NY ( Sept 17, 2009) Presented in High Definition. Isaac Mizrahi’s spring show was pure joy with a Hollywood style 50s movie set titled; “Astaire Case or Obstacle Course.” The set complete with scaffolding and all manner of staging – had models walking up onto a platform and then down a staircase, following stage directions through a rain machine before finally reaching a stopping point near the end of the catwalk. A jazz band, fronted by Ethan Iverson played live adding to the coolly orchestrated mayhem. Mizrahi sent out an upbeat collection with a modern, New York take on YSL’s tuxedo dressing. There were jackets cut with wide lapels in a variety or lengths, from cropped styles to a short double breasted mini tuxedo dress in shimmering holographic pailletes. For evening, a tuxedo jacket worn with a salmon colored wrapped tulle skirt tied around the hips looked like it had not been sewn, but simply irreverently wrapped about the body. Fitted bustiers perfectly complemented the cropped jackets and looked daringly chic when paired with a short silk skirt swirled into a charming rosette. The clothes were classic with a twist, often mixing sharp tailoring with soft layered silk skirts or masculine clean cut trousers pleated and cuffed at bottom. A standout pair of green satin trousers was paired with a crisp dove grey bustier and matching double lapel jacket or set in ecru over a crisp white bustier and black crepe trousers. Accessories included clear arm braces and a zany Lucite lobster as an appendage, cardboard constructed boater hats and flat spectator shoes or tri-tone Oxford sandals with a metal spiral cone heal. "I still believe," Mizrahi said, "that fashion has to be gorgeous and colorful and fun. Marchesa Spring 2010 Runway show
Marchesa Spring 2010 Collection New York, NY ( Sept 16, ...
Marchesa Spring 2010 Collection New York, NY ( Sept 16, 2009) Presented in High Definition. Georgina Chapman's and Keren Craig's exotic Madame Butterfly inspired collection took us on a flight of fantasy to the Far East with their sensual and romantic dresses adorned with origami flowers, leaves and signature sculptural and gravity-defying ruffles. Chapman and Craig love statetment making dresses which suit the glitterati crowd just fine as evidenced by the mass of celebrities who attended in droves to see her red-carpet-ready gowns. Dressing the likes of Blake Lively, Emmy Rossum, Penélope Cruz, Sharon Stone, Diane Kruger, Kate Beckinsale, Rachel Weisz and Kerry Washington, the duo makes no secret of their love for the ultra glam life. An ivory tulle corset gown embroidered with black flowers culminating in a fishtail was no doubt bound for the red carpet as were many of her spectacular dresses such as a black and white laser-cut strapless gown with a nipped waist and flaring skirt that defied gravity, floating in space around the legs like a cloud as light filtered through the blossom cut-outs casting floral patterns. Laser-cut blooms which looked as if they'd been cut out of paper also framed the neckline and hem of a short silver dance dress with draped tulle sleeves. Delicate floral embroidery and formal kimono style wrapping with obi-esque fixed folds on satin gowns displayed the craftsmanship and technical skill of two women who have found their voice. The results were nothing short of awe-inspiring. Produced by Gianna Madrini, Style Editor - Global Fashion News http://www.globalfashionnews.com Copyright 2009 All rights reserved.
