    Burberry Fall 2012 Show

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 collection; London, United Kingdom. Christopher Bailey's ...

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 collection; London, United Kingdom. Christopher Bailey's collection for Burberry was all about “merging Town and Country.” which made for the perfect fall/winter wardrobe. Burberry’s luxurious outerwear came in herringbone tweed, velvet, and leather, all topped-off with ultra rich trims such as enlarge gold zippers, studs, and shearling linings.  Bailey’s structured shoulders, nipped-in waists and pencil skirts suggest a feminine silhouette which he further exploited by placing broad peplums at the waist, and adding larged gathered pockets to jackets and skirts, focusing attention on the waist. Burberry’s iconic trench coat was transformed this season with panels of timeless tweed and a curvy new peplum. On a double breasted gray and white herringbone coat, he placed large bellow pockets just below the waist, and finished the look with a gold ochre belt. A gray wool pencil skirt with a bow belt in red bordeaux featured roomy, oversized gathered pockets and was paired with a white silk faille blouse with billowing sleeves.  Among the many stand outs are a number of shrunken, down-filled, silk bomber jackets with ribbed collars. which he paired with just about every look.  A brown silk version was paired with a mottled wool pencil skirt with front ruffle detail, and a cotton T-Shirt with printed bird graphic.  For evening, Bailey sent out a jacquard dress with red floral embroidery and an ultra-wide, pleated peplum toughened-up with a leather bomber and a pair of black studded leather gloves. He closed the show with a series of playful, yet sophisticated metallic fringe dresses; inset with sheer tulle in either red and black or green and black eyelash fringe that were cinched with a suede belt. Christopher Bailey perfect hybrid collection resulted in a diverse offering of daywear that combined the best of two worlds; English-countryside charm and London’s contemporary spirit. Balmain Fall 2012 Runway Show

Balmain Fall 2012 collection Paris, France Oliver Rousteing’s Fall 2012 ...

Balmain Fall 2012 collection Paris, France Oliver Rousteing’s Fall 2012 collection for the house of Balmain was simply riveting and jaw dropping in it’s Baroque richness. Rousteing’s line up had it all from ultra-rich ornamentation, including needlepoint design embroidery with pearls and crystals, and of course obligatory tough girl studding, plus a whole new take on the iconic Balmain jackets and uber sexy dresses. Oversize boxy jackets, slim cut trousers and body conscious dresses defined the silhouette for the collection.  The iconic Balmain smoking jacket was transformed into new a sportier oversize version as were the other jackets using sumptuous stamped brocades that were deliberately decadent and unapologetic over the top. “I love the richness of all that jewelry, specifically of the pearls and it was important for me to keep that richness. At the same time, it was important to have a new and strong shape at Balmain,” explained Rousteing. There was a sculpted, crosshatched (quilted) white leather mini with intricate Faberge egg inspired rose needlepoint design that set the tone for the show followed by a crew neck sweater embellished with the same, along with pearls and crystals over slim velvet pants. Oliver Rousteing triumphant collection evoked the richness and luxury of the baroque period setting Balmain on a path to soar again. Altuzarra Fall 2012 Show

Altuzzara Fall 2012 collection Collection:New York, NY Joseph Altuzarra received ...

Altuzzara Fall 2012 collection Collection:New York, NY Joseph Altuzarra received rave reviews at New York Fashion Week for his romp around the world that centered around Corto Maltese the protagonist comic book hero from the 60’s, was a sailor that traveled all around the world and picking up treasure from every place he visited. Such as the coins and charms he used on a many of the pieces in his fall collection. His prints included Moroccan carpet patterns in red-orange and yellow and a variety of Indian and North African references combined with terrific tailoring and an abundance of heavenly knits. A Tibetan influenced black and white embroidered motif with red pompoms was used throughout on various sweaters. Fabulous fur pea coats, velvet blazers and shearing toggle coats were finished and cut to perfection. Towards the end of the show there were trois très chic little black dresses that gave off l’air de Paris. This was a very strong collection from a young designer who took us on a wonderful journey to distance lands. Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 Show

Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 Collection New York, NY. Prabal Gurung ...

Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 Collection New York, NY. Prabal Gurung took us through a mystical journey which explored the dark and good side of the provocateur Gurung girl! Yes, the Gurung girl can be bad but one can argue she almost evangelical at the same time. Prabal Gurung depicted a color palette that went from dark to light and touch of ivory and golden hues. Well defined lines and flounced- skirts were the predominant silhouettes. The vibrant blue rose print fabrics to the sheer embroider baroque motifs and the patent-leather applications were among the collection a bold variation that was simply dazzling. With that being said, Prabal Gurung delivered a beautifully executed and flamboyant collection that keeps me looking forward to more Gurung creations. Alexandre Plokhov Fall 2012 Mens Show

Alexandre Plokhov Fall 2012 Mens collection Collection New York, NY. ...

Alexandre Plokhov Fall 2012 Mens collection Collection New York, NY. In Alexandre Plokhov's second collection for his namesake label an absolute restriction of color gave shape to a sexed-up, sleek version of menswear. Plokhov sent out long-haired models in leather skirts, asymmetrically cut trousers and elongated sweaters that covered the hips, making for an aesthetic that was at once dangerous and almost feminine. Plokhov's dark, chiaroscuro palette was dominated by midnight black and various shades of gray that had a slight hint of goth. He called his collection "a stylistic fan letter" to musicians Glenn Danzig (Danzig) and Andrew Eldritch (Sisters of Mercy), famous front men of iconic goth bands. Plokhov's rebellious lineup included an elongated apron-tuxedo vest over a floor-length skirt followed by slender leather trousers under a long skirt worn with an extra long sweater. The look is sexy, but in a masculine way to highlights a man's physique. It was a "uniquely visceral and complex idea of masculinity" with models wearing Cuban-heeled leather boots, and heavy eyeliner. His modern day warrior is decked-out in leather trousers and a mohair vest treated with acid to achieve a matted, oily feel, "much like dirty hair," said Plokhov. Next, a sporty tailored gray suit was paired with a plunging v-neck T-Shirt and relaxed trousers. Another suit in black speckled merino wool came in an elegant, slim silhouette and was worn without a shirt, highlighting a fantastic silver necklace. Alexandre Plokhov delivered a collection full of ambiguity and dark glamour that is bringing sexy back to menswear.
